PURPOSEProvide the opportunity for your employees to get important decisions or events on the table so you can determine whether you need to “take action” or “manage expectations”, AND an employee can “take action” or “let go”.

Time: 30 Minutes

STEP 1Give the Let Them Go Worksheet to your employee.

STEP 2: Ask your employee to identify one to two decisions, actions, or events they have a concern about.

Have your employee record the following:

  1. A brief outline of the decision or event
  2. The impact this decision or event created for the employee

STEP 3: In a discussion, ask your employee to talk about each decision or event and the impact created. Be sure to focus on creating an understanding of the employee’s perspective.

STEP 4: Based on the decision, action, or event, determine the following:

  1. What YOU can do
  2. What the EMPLOYEE can do
  3. What YOU AND the EMPLOYEE can do TOGETHER

STEP 5: Share what CAN and CAN’T be done and discuss WHY with the employee.
