Time: 1 Hour
STEP 1: Select 3 to 5 award categories critical to the team’s overall success. You can select these categories with your team or by yourself.
Award Category Examples:
- Supporting Your Team Members Award
- Best New Idea Award
- Late Night Award
- Flexibility Award
- Do Whatever It Takes Award
- Best Customer Service Award
The award category examples are just a few ideas; use your team’s goals, values, and what it takes for your team to be successful to select the right award categories.
STEP 2: Identify an object to represent the award for each award category.
Award Examples:
- Flexibility Award = Gumby Doll
- Late Night Award = Clock
- Supporting Your Team Members Award = Metal Shelf Bracket
STEP 3: In a team meeting, vote to determine who should be the first recipient of each award. Share what the team member did, and the impact created for the team.
STEP 4: The team member who received the award now has the responsibility to pass the award on to another co-worker. The team member may ask for suggestions from the team, or may receive input from others regarding a co-worker’s achievements. The team member should try and pass the award on to another co-worker within 2 weeks.
STEP 5: In the next team meeting, previous award recipients should share who they passed the award on to, describe what the co-worker did, and highlight the impact created for the team.
