SOLUTION:

Pass It On

PURPOSETeam members present awards to each other to recognize personal achievements.

Time: 1 Hour

STEP 1: Select 3 to 5 award categories critical to the team’s overall success. You can select these categories with your team or by yourself.

Award Category Examples:

  • Supporting Your Team Members Award
  • Best New Idea Award
  • Late Night Award
  • Flexibility Award
  • Do Whatever It Takes Award
  • Best Customer Service Award

The award category examples are just a few ideas; use your team’s goals, values, and what it takes for your team to be successful to select the right award categories.

STEP 2: Identify an object to represent the award for each award category.

Award Examples:

  • Flexibility Award = Gumby Doll
  • Late Night Award = Clock
  • Supporting Your Team Members Award = Metal Shelf Bracket

STEP 3: In a team meeting, vote to determine who should be the first recipient of each award.  Share what the team member did, and the impact created for the team.

STEP 4: The team member who received the award now has the responsibility to pass the award on to another co-worker. The team member may ask for suggestions from the team, or may receive input from others regarding a co-worker’s achievements. The team member should try and pass the award on to another co-worker within 2 weeks.

STEP 5: In the next team meeting, previous award recipients should share who they passed the award on to, describe what the co-worker did, and highlight the impact created for the team.
