STEP 1: In a team meeting, give each team member a Team Recognition Chart, and discuss the importance of recognizing each other’s achievements. Use the questions below to help facilitate the discussion.
- How does recognition help us individually and as a team?
- Why is receiving recognition from each other (not just our manager) important?
- What are some ways to provide great recognition to each other?
- What will be the benefit of increasing the amount of recognition each of us receive?
STEP 2: Review the following “Team Recognition Chart” process with your team.
- Record the names of all team members on the chart
- Each time a team member provides recognition to a co-worker, the team member should place a check mark next to the co-worker’s name
STEP 3: Review the following in a team meeting:
- Identify team members who should receive more recognition
- Discuss the impact of the recognition on individual and team performance
- Ask team members to share personal recognition experiences, describing how the experience impacted them
