Before the discussion:
STEP 1: Schedule a time with the team member to conduct a “Role Review”.
STEP 2: Outline what you think the team member’s role and responsibilities are.
During the discussion:
STEP 3: Ask the employee to describe their current role and responsibilities.
STEP 4: Identify any gaps between what you think the team member’s role requires, and what the team member thinks their role requires.
STEP 5: Determine if there are responsibilities that need to be added, deleted, or modified within the team member’s role.
STEP 6: Capture the updated role description and responsibilities on the Role Review Worksheet.
