PURPOSE: Facilitate or ask your manager to lead a team discussion regarding what organization quality, issue, product, or idea generates excitement for each team member.

Time: < 1 Hour  

Before the meeting:

STEP 1: Think about the team member’s “best work” and identify the following:

  • A list of the team member’s “best work”
  • A description of what you’ve seen the team member do when performing his or her “best work”
  • The impact of the “best work” on other team members and on the team’s performance

During the meeting:

STEP 2: Review the “Best Work Evaluation” with your team member. Be sure to emphasize the following:

  • What you’ve seen the team member do
  • The impact of his or her actions
  • What the team member needs to do more of, less of, or differently
  • How the team member’s “best work” will help the team achieve its goals and objectives

STEP 3: Summarize the meeting by outlining the actions both you and the team member will take to ensure the team member’s “best work” continues to make a positive impact for the team member, as well as on the team’s performance.

STEP 4: Realize that you are increasing confidence and capabilities in your team members, as well as encouraging them to do more of what they love.
