SOLUTION:

Like Where
You Live

PURPOSEMake your home your sanctuary—the place you go back to after a long (and potentially stressful) day to relax and recuperate.

Time: 1 Hour

STEP 1: Decide what your house needs to make it clean, tidy, de-cluttered, and welcoming. Does it need a thorough cleaning? Do you need to buy some plants to bring in some color and energy? Do you need to declutter a closet or room? Do you need a fresh coat of paint to brighten it up a bit? Maybe it’s as simple as replacing your light bulbs with soft or golden light to create a more relaxing environment. Whatever it is, decide what you want to do and when you can afford to do it.

STEP 2: Make a list of what to do first, purchase any necessary materials, then start the cleaning or redecorating process. Donate what you can or have a garage sale. For anything you decide to keep, make sure it has a place, so it won’t get disorganized.

STEP 3: If someone you know has the gift of organizing or “staging” a home, offer to buy them dinner and/or wine to get their help on your project. Many times, they can see things that we cannot that will make a huge improvement on your home. Remember to take what they say into consideration instead of as the final word—this is your house and it’s important that it reflect your vibe, vision, and personality.

STEP 4: Celebrate your progress and the look and feel of your home. It will be worth all of your effort. Remember the feeling you have as you walk in to keep you motivated to keep it looking this way.
