SOLUTION:

Take Inventory
of Your Life

PURPOSE: Challenge yourself to embrace everything in your life that you find impactful—even the things that you are struggling with. Acknowledged all of your successes, the people in your life that are meaningful to you, or a recent experience or memory that has left an impact on you.

Time: 1 Hour

STEP 1: Set aside time to reflect on your life – what is working and what is not. What blessings have you received and which ones are you still waiting on. Think about various areas of your life – health, relationships, finances, work, family, friends, skills gained, challenges overcome, hobbies enjoyed, etc. to help you categorize and more easily approach this exercise.

STEP 2: Write a reflection summary…it could be a reflection summary for the year or a catch-up reflection for your life. Reflect on all of your accomplishments for the year (or your life), recognize blessings, where to thank God for unanswered prayers, and how you’ve grown in a certain area or timeframe. Once you’ve done this for the first time, try to do it once a year so you and your family can look back on all that you’ve accomplished, both individually and together. Otherwise, many times our blessings can very easily get lost in the shuffle.

STEP 3: Share with others. They may remember or point out other things that you have forgotten. Write them down. You don’t want to lose those special nuggets.

STEP 4: Keep track of each year so you can look back with fond memories of what you have done and how far you have come. This could be a simple list with bullet points, a scrapbook/collage or photographs or special memories or recorded video from events in your life.
