Your Own Pace

PURPOSE: Take things at your natural speed instead of a pace that is determined by the immediate gratification mode of the Internet.

Time: < 30 Minutes

STEP 1: Don’t sweat the small stuff… decision making can be exhausting at times because it draws from a finite reserve. The more you draw from it, the less you have. When you have to make a big life decision, keep everything else simple. If something big is occupying your thoughts, don’t waste hours pondering the small stuff.

STEP 2: Ask yourself, what is the life you want? Knowing what you want is the single biggest factor that will help you become more decisive.

STEP 3: Recognize that there are no “bad” decisions. Have faith that no matter the decision you make, there will be a beautiful lesson behind it.

STEP 4: Address your fears…oftentimes we are indecisive because we fear negative outcomes could materialize if we make a decision. Some fears are irrational, some fears are justified, but the fact is you get nowhere if you ignore them. Manage your fear. Rather than allowing it to take up rent space in your brain, write down your fears, assess them, see if they are justified and then MAKE A PLAN to either address them or factor them into your decision.

STEP 5: Have Faith… learn to live with your instincts and “trust your gut”…believe that you are decisive and stop telling others you are indecisive (thus creating a self fulfilling prophecy). Although the gut is that sometimes it’s hard to read, confronting your fears and reassessing your values will help. What your gut feels manifests as physical symptoms so pay attention to your body when thinking through the various options you have in a situation.
