Time: 1 - 2 Hours
STEP 1: Research when and where you’d like to go, whether it is a lush park, the beach, or the mountains. Look for exciting activities you can do while you’re there. Go hiking, fishing, skiing, enjoy a picnic, play on a playground, or practice some outdoor yoga. There are many options to choose from, depending on your location.
STEP 2: Bring a towel, blanket, or hammock where you can sit and read a book or enjoy a snack and drink. Doing this will allow you to spend as much time in nature as you’d like without having to leave due to hunger pains. Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat.
STEP 3: While you sit and enjoy your surroundings, take deep breaths of fresh air and inhale/exhale slowly. Take a walk and enjoy the view. Walk in the grass or the sand with no shoes on. Don’t rush to do anything or rush to leave. This is important time for you to rest and rejuvenate.
STEP 4: Maybe you’d like to explore the area beyond the park/beach/etc. on your way home. Whether it’s a new subdivision, a quaint shop, festival, or something else, take time to explore what is nearby. See a cool coffee shop? Go get yourself a latte and sit on the patio while you people watch.
STEP 5: Recognize how you feel after you drive away. Maybe you feel refreshed, renewed and possibly a little regretful that you couldn’t stay longer. Take note of these feelings so you’ll remember the key things that happened and realize the importance of moments like these. Don’t stop there. Challenge yourself to continuously grow in your efforts to explore your surroundings and enjoy yourself in the process.
