STEP 1: Determine which day you will enjoy the sunrise or sunset. If you are in a warm climate, enjoy your morning coffee on the porch while you bask in the soft splendor of the sunrise. Watch as the world “wakes up” before your eyes. The sunset can easily be enjoyed as a break in your day—have a glass of wine or dinner outside or drive to a spot with a great view of the mountains, city, or lake at a nearby park. Put on some relaxing music and celebrate the end of a productive or busy day.
STEP 2: Consider inviting someone to join you. Share the experience of a beautiful moment with someone you care about—this is a wonderful way to spend time with someone and catch up with one another.
STEP 3: As the sun is rising or setting, take a moment to be thankful for another day, thankful for the beauty of this moment, and thankful for all of the blessings that you’ve been given. Relish in the beauty of the world and this life you get to live. Sometimes appreciating the simple things in life can provide us with peace and happiness more than a material object can.
STEP 4: Focus on being quiet as you watch it rise or set, enjoying the peaceful calmness of the moment.
STEP 5: Afterwards, reflect upon what you received or gained from this moment—how did it feel to take the time to truly appreciate the beauty of the sun? Did you find it to be a calming, invigorating or even a humbling experience? If you derived benefit from doing so, make it a point to enjoy it more often.
