Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour
STEP 1: Set a time for your daily walk. Put it on your calendar and/or make it a “ritual time” that you (and possibly your pet and/or loved ones) will come to love.
STEP 2: Load up and go. As you leave, set an intention of gratefulness for your walk. As soon as you get outside, say something you are automatically grateful for, such as “What a beautiful day it is, thank you!” or “I am so lucky to have the spouse that I do!”.
STEP 3: As you are walking, continually put it out to God/the Universe how fortunate you are to have this time to walk and think. Contemplate how fortunate you are to have a healthy body and a warm home filled with a loving family or pet.
Think about the big and the small things that you subconsciously take for granted every day. Give all of those things the appreciation that they deserve and remind yourself to constantly notice them moving forward.
STEP 4: Think about positive statements that you can say aloud every day to yourself or loved ones even when you are not able to go on your walk. Come up with 15 things that you will remind yourself to be grateful for. Some examples may include: “Thank you for my/our health,” “my quiet time”, “my loved ones”, etc. Let your creative energy flow and see what you come up with.
