Walk, Hike, or Bike

PURPOSE: Get outside and take some deep refreshing breaths. Enjoy the many benefits of doing so – getting Vitamin D, releasing “feel good” endorphins, relieving stress, all while doing a great thing for your body and mind. Go a step further and bring a friend or your pet along.

Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour

STEP 1: Determine what you’d like to do outside to increase your heart rate. Take a walk around the neighborhood, choose a hiking trail in your area, take a few laps around your favorite park, paddleboard at a nearby lake, or walk along the beach during sunset. Wherever you go, choose somewhere that is visually stimulating, quiet and peaceful and/or filled with joy and laughter.

STEP 2: Notice nature and your view. Focus on your breathing. Let your experience both center you and fill your heart with joy and rejuvenation.

STEP 3: Take time to be thankful for your ability to do what you’re doing, see what you are seeing, and feel what you are feeling.

STEP 4: Determine the NEXT date and time that you’ll get out and do this again, and who you’d like to share this experience with in the future. If your outdoor activity brought you joy, make it a habit. Or try a different activity next time.
