Time: < 30 Minutes
STEP 1: When you set a goal or have a project you want to complete, identify the resources you’ll need to accomplish your desired results. Use the following questions to help identify the required resources:
- What is my timeline to complete this project?
- What resources do I need in order to successfully complete the project?
- Who within my network of people can I ask for those resources I don’t own/have access to on my own?
STEP 2: Identify your most crucial resource needs.
STEP 3: Create a comprehensive inventory of the resources you have access to immediately, as well as those you can acquire/borrow from a friend.
STEP 4: Develop a resource plan for the identified resource needs. Identify how your friends and family can combine, shift, or reallocate resources in order to meet the need.
Resource Needs
I need to borrow a vacuum cleaner so I can clean the house before my extended family gets into town. My vacuum cleaner broke last week so I will need to find a vacuum that I can borrow from a friend.
Resources Inventory
My neighbor down the street has a vacuum cleaner that I am interested in borrowing, and I have her phone number saved in my contacts.
Resource Plan
I’ll call my neighbor and explain to her my predicament. I will request to borrow her vacuum and give her enough notice so that I don’t inconvenience her by using it when she needs it. Once I am through, I will drop it off at her house and bring a bottle of wine as a “thank you” gift.
STEP 5: Once you meet your needs, celebrate with those people who helped you for a job well done. Express your thanks and gratitude to those who helped you achieve your goal.
