Time: < 1 Hour
STEP 1: Set aside some time when you are with a friend/family member/your significant other to discuss how you can support this person or act as a resource to them. This process can be done if people are feeling stretched and need some help from others.
STEP 2: During this conversation encourage all members to do the following:
- Identify a resource they need in order to achieve their individual goals or life priorities
- Describe why the resource is critical to their success
- List the actions they’ve already taken to obtain the resource
- Outline the obstacles impacting their ability to acquire the resource
STEP 3: The group brainstorms ideas to help each person obtain the needed resource. Participants should identify:
- Existing group resources that can be used by this person
- Individuals in the family/friend group who may be able to provide the resource
- The impact this resource will have on the family/friend group’s overall success. If it is critical, the group may want to “reprioritize” current resources in order to ensure that this critical need is met.
