SOLUTION:

Celebrate Good Times

PURPOSE: Look for opportunities to recognize big successes and small victories to remind yourself that good things are happening around you.

Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour

STEP 1: Take time to celebrate a good report card, a positive performance review, a passing grade on a difficult test/project, a new boyfriend/girlfriend, or an overdue break-up, etc. Think of 5-10 large or small accomplishments you proud of. As you come up with them, congratulate yourself and take time to realize that many good things are happening to you and around you.

STEP 2: Think about ways you can celebrate the accomplishments you listed. Bring out your inner kid and think of ideas that you usually wouldn’t do. Get creative and have fun with planning your celebration.

  • Maybe you got pay raise and you want to celebrate by going skydiving for the first time.
  • Maybe your child got an A on their big final and you celebrate by taking the family to go glow in the dark mini golfing.
  • Maybe you finally broke up with your significant other who was holding you back and you celebrate by exploring a big city near you and you rent a hotel room for your friends and yourself to crash in afterwards.

STEP 3: After picking out your celebration, invite those you want to celebrate with you. Invite people that will embrace the activity and your accomplishment. Then, set a time, date and make it happen.

STEP 4: Enjoy the celebration and relish every moment. If you are celebrating someone else, make sure you give them the same excitement that you would want them to give you. Be present in every moment and let every part of yourself shine with enthusiasm.

STEP 5: Time to schedule your next celebration.
