Exercise of Choice

PURPOSE: Take time to enjoy the kinds of exercise that make you happy. Reach your goals, as well as enjoy the journey of getting there, through exercise that can energize and clear your mind, while strengthening your body.

Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour

STEP 1: Think about what kinds of exercise you enjoy doing. It doesn’t have to be the “norm” (jogging, going to the gym, taking a class), but maybe you enjoy jumping on the trampoline, indoor or outdoor rock climbing, hiking, mommy and me yoga, or walking the hills in your neighborhood. Think outside the box of how you can strengthen your body while breaking a sweat. Note 5-10 activities that you find enjoyable.

STEP 2: Put 2-4 activities on your calendar for the week. You can start small by doing something for 10 minutes. The goal is to a) enjoy yourself and b) start the process and c) get in a routine to energize your body and mind several times a week.

STEP 3: Enlist a friend for company, motivation, or as an accountability partner. It’s a lot easier to get up and do something if someone is on their way to meet you! This will also help to build a routine knowing someone else is counting on you to do a specific workout with them. This way you can build your strength AND your relationship.

STEP 4: Get moving. You are becoming a better version of yourself as you release positive endorphins, burn calories, and detox your mind and body… all while toning and strengthening yourself in the process. This experience should feel rewarding, so make sure you are setting positive intentions throughout your workout.
