SOLUTION:

Be Happy With Who You Are

PURPOSEShow yourself some love and appreciation by recognizing and embracing your favorite things about yourself. Being happy with who you are is a mindset, as well as something to work at each day.

Time: < 30 Minutes

STEP 1: Make a list of things you do well and that you like about yourself (i.e. I can sing, I make a mean lasagna, I can do yoga, I am good at my job, I keep a level head during chaotic or stressful times, I have a good haircut, straight teeth, etc.) While we all undoubtedly have things we like about ourselves, it is easy to forget about them if we are busy in life or do not constantly make them a priority in our minds.

STEP 2: Use this list as positive affirmations each day to remind yourself of what you do well and what you like about yourself. It is important to keep these ideas in front of you, as we tend to spend more time in our head on what we are NOT good at, which doesn’t benefit anyone.

STEP 3: When you hear negative self-talk creeping into your head, counter it with a positive affirmation from your list of skills/qualities. Old habits die hard so give yourself some grace if you catch yourself having negative thoughts—acknowledge the thought, forgive yourself and counter it with three positive things about yourself.

STEP 4: Consider thinking what you would like to do to continue to be happy with who you are. Are you proud of your physical prowess? Would you like to continue to mentor that young professional at work? Are you fulfilled by your love of cooking for yourself and others? Regardless of what they are, keep the process going and don’t let things slip.
