SOLUTION:

Grateful Walk

PURPOSEMake it a practice to take a daily walk with the intentions of being grateful for all that has been given to you. Reap the benefits of this quiet time, being thankful, showing reverence, de-cluttering your mind, and invigorating your body.

Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour

STEP 1: Set a time for your daily walk. Put it on your calendar and/or make it a “ritual time” that you (and possibly your pets or loved ones) come to love. Have walking shoes handy; if you are going to walk at lunch during work, bring your shoes to work.

STEP 2: Load up and go. As you leave your home, adjust your mindset to gratefulness by saying…”What a beautiful day it is!” or “There is so much to be grateful for!”—challenge yourself to be specific in your gratitude, you will likely be surprised at how easy it is to identify what you are thankful for.

STEP 3: If you have a “prayer list”, bring it with you. If you don’t, consider spending 3-5 minutes writing down what you’d like to pray/think about while on your walk. As you are walking… put out to God/the Universe how fortunate you are to have this time to walk, how appreciative you are to have a healthy body, for the nice weather, for your loved ones, for a roof over your head each night, etc.

STEP 4: Each day think about positive statements to meditate on or share aloud as you walk – ex: “Thank you for our health,” “our time together,” “our family,” and allow it to create positive energy in you and those around you.

STEP 5: Observe nature as you walk, being thankful for the beautiful sunrise/sunset or the flowers you hadn’t noticed before…stay present, try to not let your mind wander, use this as a walking meditation and remember to breathe deeply.
