SOLUTION:

Be Happy With Who You Are

PURPOSE: Practice a self-acceptance mindset (being happy with who you are) each day. Comparison is a thief of joy. Work on establishing and maintaining and a healthy self-confidence.

Time: 30 Minutes

STEP 1: Make a list of things you do well and that you like about yourself (i.e. I sing well, I am physically strong, I can do yoga, I am good at my job, I can keep a level head during chaotic or stressful times, I enjoy my sense of humor, I like my haircut, straight teeth, etc.)

STEP 2: You can use this list to create positive affirmations each day to remind yourself of what you do well and what you like about yourself. It is important to keep these ideas front of mind as we tend to focus more on what we are NOT good at or what we dislike about ourselves.

STEP 3: When you hear negative self-talk creeping into your head, counter it with a positive affirmation from your list of skills, qualities, and behaviors. Challenging your negative self-talk is going to take work but it is totally doable. Just like strengthening a muscle—think of your positive affirmations as a mental exercise to keep you strong.

STEP 4: Continually think about what you would like to do to and continue to practice self-love and acceptance to be happy with who you are. Would you like to continue to mentor that young professional at work, or continue to be seen as a role model to your kids or friends? Then keep the process going and don’t let things slip—self-confidence is key.
