STEP 1: Provide the Career Options Worksheet to your employees and discuss the potential career options within the organization.
Determine what actions must be taken to support the career option. Options would include staying in the current role, an upward movement, and doing something different.
STEP 2: Talk through each of the three career options and the actions that are required to implement each option.
STEP 3: Determine which career option is best for the employee right now.
STEP 4: Summarize the next steps both you and the employee must take to help the employee be successful.
STEP 5: Be sure to touch base with your employee periodically to see if the employee and you have been able to successfully implement the actions to support the employee’s career option.
