Time: 1 Hour
STEP 1: With your employee, identify and record the following on the Career Exploration Worksheet:
- The available career options within the organization based on the employee’s skills and capabilities, and desired career path
- For each career option, identify the type of movement option the career move offers (e.g., up, cross-functional assignment, moving to a new functional area, etc.)
- Determine the probable timeframe of each career move for the employee
STEP 2: Review the career options identified and determine if they include various movement options for the employee. If not, what additional career moves are you forgetting?
STEP 3: Select the career movement options best suited for the employee based on career goals, current skills and capabilities, and movement timeframe.
STEP 4: Identify the actions both you and the employee should take to help the employee achieve the desired career move.
