Challenge Profile 

PURPOSE: Facilitate a team discussion to create a “Challenge Profile” outlining what actions must be implemented to increase the level of challenge of the team’s work.

Time: < 2 Hours

STEP 1: During a team discussion outline the following: 

  • What work does the team currently do that provides a LOW level of challenge for the team
  • What work does the team currently do that provides a HIGH level of challenge for the team
  • On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = “I have no challenge at work; my work is very boring” to 10 = “this is the most challenging and difficult work I’ve ever done”), what level of challenge are team members experiencing at work right now?
  • Using the same scale, determine what level of challenge team members would like to have at work

STEP 2: Based on the level of challenge required and desired by the team, identify the following for the team and/or individual team members:

Start: Actions you must start doing to increase the level of challenge?

Stop: Actions you must stop doing to increase the level of challenge?

Continue:  What actions you need to continue doing to increase the level of challenge?         

STEP 3: Summarize the actions the team and individual team members must take to impact the level of challenge.
