Time:Â 30 Minutes
STEP 1: Using the Off My Plate Worksheet identify work you’ve been performing over the last month that meets the following criteria:
- Work you do now that another team member loves to do
- Work you do now that requires a set of skills that another team member would like to build
- Work that does not have to be done in the short-term and if not delivered, would not negatively impact the business, customers, or team
- Work you can pair up with others on
STEP 2: Based on the list of work you’ve just outlined, select one deliverable you’d like to take off your plate and select the strategy you would like to implement to remove the work from your plate.
STEP 3: Meet with your manager to review your Off My Plate worksheet and determine if it is possible to remove the selected work from your plate. Make any adjustments needed.
STEP 4: Together, identify the actions you and your manager need to take in order to remove the work/deliverable from your plate.
STEP 5: Follow-up with your manager and share how the reduced workload has impacted your work-life balance. Determine if future actions must be taken.
