STEP 1: Determine how much money you could afford to pay forward to those less fortunate. It may be a monthly amount or an annual contribution.
STEP 2: Determine whom you would like to bless or how you would like to bless them—be it money, time, a listening ear, a mentorship or all of the above. There may be charities, church outreach, non-profit organizations for a certain group, etc. If you don’t know where to start, talk to someone at your church to ask about their outreach ministry, or google local charities and non-profit organizations so you can read up on them. Consider national organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse, Salvation Army, New Friends New Life, etc.
STEP 3: Once you determine the place or places that you would like to donate to, call them and do a tour to learn more about their ministry and find out who is positively affected by your donations. This will help you finalize your decision. If you can meet some of the individuals that you would be blessing with your donation, it becomes more meaningful (so you have a name with a face).
STEP 4: Decide how and when you will donate towards these organizations. Once you donate to them, again, try to meet some of the people affected. You will be blessed by seeing how your generosity can change a life…or many lives.
