Clean Your Personal House 

PURPOSE: Clean your personal “house” to eliminate the things in your life that are not serving you. Clear space to allow things to enter your life that are positive and energizing.

Time: < 30 Minutes

STEP 1: Identify things, relationships, or habits that are not beneficial to your overall wellbeing. These may cause anxiety, stress, discomfort, guilt, and/or physical and emotional pain. You might use a pros and cons activity for each thing that showed up on your list. 

STEP 2: Decide if these items are necessary in your life, or are they are present due to habits or a specific “want” that is not helpful to you.

STEP 3: Look for ways to decrease or eliminate time with this person or habit. You may need to set boundaries, have a difficult conversation or enlist a support group, doctor, or therapist to work through this with you.

STEP 4: As with anything, when you take one thing out of your life, you need to replace it with something else – in this case, something healthy and useful; moving you closer towards the life you want to live. Make a list of things that you would like to replace these unfavorable things with, so you can get excited about where your Journey will lead. 

STEP 5: Once you determine which healthy option(s) will replace the unhealthy one(s), get an accountability partner to help you stay focused on moving forward quickly and successfully. You may also consider implementing a healthy reward system to keep you motivated.
