STEP 1: Ask your manager if you can get feedback from them and your team members to gauge your performance, both what you are doing well and what you can improve upon. This will provide you with candid feedback to help you grow, as well as see how you are positively impacting your team.
STEP 2: Ask your children, significant other, or parents/siblings what you are doing well and what you can improve upon. If you have children, you might ask them to give you a “report card” and what topics to grade you on.
STEP 3: Once you receive the feedback, bask in the glow of what you are doing well first. We tend to always fixate on where we can improve, but remember to accept your strengths. Then you can review what you can improve upon and decide if or what you’d like to focus on to improve.
STEP 4: Keep these pieces of information to reflect upon again. It’s a great idea to ask for feedback like this quarterly, semi-annually, or annually to keep you on track and aware of your performance in all areas of your life.
