SOLUTION:

It's a Date!

PURPOSE: Dedicate a date night weekly or monthly to give you and your spouse/significant other a night to look forward to, an opportunity to make great memories, and a chance to enhance your relationship. If you have children, you are role modeling the importance of making your spouse a priority.

Time: 1 Hour - 2 Hours

STEP 1: Determine a date night that will work with both of your schedules. Put them on the calendar weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Do whatever you can to NOT reschedule this night. Although life happens, this is a critical component to building and maintaining a firm foundation.

STEP 2: Research creative and fun date ideas. Look for events that will surprise and excite your spouse/significant other. Keep in mind that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a fun date night…a game night, karaoke, or renting an old movie can be just as memorable.

STEP 3: Purchase items that will help enhance the evening.

  • Wine and cheese for a picnic
  • Mullet wig and Madonna bracelets/leggings for 80s night
  • Champagne, champagne glasses and strawberries
  • Team t-shirt for a sporting event
  • Gatorade and granola bars for a hike
  • Download songs of an artist before their concert

STEP 4: Make sure you have a reliable babysitter if appropriate.

STEP 5: Focus on each other and limit any other distractions. Great dates beget more great dates and many happy memories.
