Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour
STEP 1: Find something that would be fun or relaxing for you/your family. A few of our favorites are:
- Doing 10 minutes of yoga to relax before bed
- Taking a walk to discuss the day or talk about an uncomfortable topic
- Throwing the Frisbee or football
- Jumping on the trampoline together
- Planting and tending a garden
- If you are feeling creative, set up a fun obstacle course.
STEP 2: Ask those in your family to make a list of what they MOST like to do outside. This will give you more ideas to choose from. Then incorporate their suggestions over the next week so they feel heard.
STEP 3: When someone has a birthday, schedule a party or a get together that will get them moving…a 5k, a mud run, bowling, indoor or outdoor rock climbing, even going to a place with indoor video games can get you moving.
STEP 4: Try to incorporate outdoor activities 3-5 days a week if at all possible. If the weather isn’t conducive to doing so, a game of Twister and Wii Fit may be in order.
STEP 5: Take pictures and enjoy making these fun memories with your loved ones as you encourage them to be happy and healthy.
