Time: As long as you need!
STEP 1: Research places you’d like to get lost in—it could be a Bed and Breakfast in the mountains, a spa day in the next town over, or a weekend winery tour. Determine where to go, when to go and what you want to do while you’re there. Your experience is all your own so you get to decide your agenda.
STEP 2: Make your plans, purchase anything you need for your trip or event and get pumped for your getaway. Bring something for the trip that will make it extra cool, fun or special for you.
STEP 3: Savor every moment of your getaway. Be grateful for the time you have to enjoy this moment, as well as what you get to see, hear, feel, and experience. Remember to notice new or interesting things you see or people you meet. Push yourself to try something new that you wouldn’t normally try at home (a new type of food, a dance class, etc.). This trip is all about experiencing LIFE in a new environment so keep your eyes open and invite novel experiences.
STEP 4: Take pictures as you create great memories and stay curious. Chat up your server or the person you buy your coffee from. Make it a point to interact with the locals and ask them what they find interesting or exciting about their city and what they recommend that is off the beaten path.
STEP 5: Once you return home, spend some time reflecting on why you needed this break, what drove you to seek out this experience, what you received from this time away and what you’d like to do/see/experience on your next adventure.
