STEP 1: Use the following information as a guide for the conversations you want to have with your family, spouse, and/or friends:
- It is important to me that we recognize and celebrate all of our achievements. Often times, we tend to focus on the big achievements, but forget to recognize the smaller ones—which can be just as important.
- Let’s take a moment to think about our friends, family, and each other and our actions over the last two weeks:
- What actions have these people taken to support you in achieving your own goals and happiness?
- Whose actions have you witnessed that support not only the well-being of themselves but that of those around them?
- What smaller, yet important, accomplishments have family members and friends achieved?
- Create a list together or separately of all of the actions/achievements that you want to celebrate. Include as much detail as you wish.
STEP 2: Once you have made your list(s) reach out to the people on your list and express your appreciation, gratitude, and celebrate them for the things they do.
STEP 3: After performing the “Small Stuff Counts” a few times, you may find that more and more “small stuff” is recognized day-to-day, week-to-week. However, you may still want to continue performing “Small Stuff Counts” emails to ensure the “small stuff” is always talked about in regular everyday conversations.
