STEP 1: Develop a list (mentally or physically) of the challenges you have on your plate. Think of each of those challenges and ask yourself who could be helpful regarding that challenge. A few suggestions:
- Contact a co-worker or friend who can help with a work, home, or lawn project
- Pay someone to clean your house… you could pay them with money you make from decluttering your closets and taking the clothes to a consignment shop OR pay a friend/family member who you know could use the money.
- Consider asking your significant other/spouse or older child (who is less busy than you), if they can go to the grocery store or make dinner one night a week.
- See if you can arrange a carpool where you help a neighbor take their kids to school and you pick them up.
STEP 2: Once you’ve determined who can help, reach out to them. Tell them what you need, when, how long it will take, and how/if they will be compensated.
STEP 3: If they say yes, thank them and set the date to make it happen. If they say no, ask them if they know someone who may be interested in helping them with the project/need. If they don’t have any suggestions, reach out to your social media group for suggestions/guidance on people who may be able to help.
STEP 4: Once you get this help, you may realize that it is truly a need for you right now, not just a “nice-to-have”. If it decreases your stress, helps you sleep better and gives you more time to focus on reaching your incredible life, then it is well worth it.
