Time: 30 Minutes - 1 Hour
STEP 1: Set a date for their annual exams, vaccinations, etc. with the veterinarian. At the vet, make sure you provide any new information about your pet. Are they acting, eating, or sleeping differently? Are you concerned about anything on their body? This is your time to share any and all information that will be helpful for the vet to know. No detail is too small or insignificant. Ask the vet what you should expect after their exam and shots. Will they be uncomfortable, sore, or tired? You’ll want to know this so you can act accordingly.
STEP 2: Read information on your type of pet to be aware of the simple things that can affect your pet’s health. Learn about potential toxins around your home, treats they receive and overall care. Like a good parent, ask yourself, “How do I make sure they stay healthy?
STEP 3: Do an occasional body check to make sure that there aren’t any bites, bruises or bumps that have developed. Keep your veterinarian abreast of any changes or concerns.
STEP 4: Get your pets the exercise they need. Whether it’s a good, long walk, a game of catch the light with your cat or some other energizing game, give them the opportunity to burn the energy they have…especially if they’ve been at home alone all day.
STEP 5: Just like humans, gum health is vitally important for the over health of your fur baby – allocate time every day for brushing their teeth – it only takes 2-3 minutes and their health will be rewarded and risk of a higher vet visit will be greatly diminished…you brush your teeth multiple times a day, right?
