Time:Â 1-2 Hours
STEP 1: Find time to assess your personal financial needs in a spreadsheet (“Reduce $5,000 credit card debt,” “Save for vacation”). Note specific goals (“Eliminate debt in 12 months”) and challenges (“High interest rates”).
STEP 2: Review the HR portal or benefits handbook for financial wellness offerings (debt eliminator services, financial planning workshops, or courses like “Financial Peace University”). List 2–3 relevant resources in the spreadsheet.
NOTE: If you're unable to find a benefit or resource in your portal or handbook - contact your manager or HR team to review your options.Â
STEP 3: Schedule a quick meeting with your manager to discuss: “Can I access [resource, e.g., debt eliminator workshop] to support my financial goals?” Determine any needed steps you have to take to get moving on the resource.Â
NOTE: If you already know how to enroll then you can skip this step - however it can be beneficial to keep your manager in the loop.Â
STEP 4: Participate in the workshop or resource! Track progress weekly (15 minutes) in your spreadsheet: “Debt reduced by $500; stress level: 2/5.” Follow up with your manager or HR team quarterly via email to express how helpful the resource or workshop is to keep them in the loop, and gain ongoing support.Â
