Time: < 1 Hour
STEP 1: In a team meeting, describe the purpose of the proposed changes. Mention the following:
- This is an opportunity to share your ideas to improve the organization, club, etc.
- This is not an opportunity to complain
- We must provide “real” solutions to the issues we raise
STEP 2: Brainstorm improvement ideas to present to the senior leaders. Use the following categories to help brainstorm ideas:
People | The overall experience for individual volunteers, participants, members, etc. |
Process | The methods and systems of the team and organization |
Projects | Team or department assignments |
Products | Organization products and services |
Policies | The rules and guidelines which govern our organization/group |
STEP 3: Categorize each idea into one of three groups:
- Great Idea—Leaders should know about it now
- Idea has Potential—Further investigation is needed before presenting it to leaders
- Mixed Review—Table the idea for now
STEP 4: Determine which team members will summarize the “Great Ideas” in a report for the senior leaders. When preparing the report, team members should include the following for each idea:
- The current situation and desired performance
- Description of the idea
- How the idea can be implemented
- The resources required for implementation
- The impact the idea will create if implemented
